There are good days and bad days. It turns out that yesterday was not a good day. I realized that I can see better with my old glasses than I can see with my new glasses with a new prescription. My husband Jerry is still ill. I found out that my neighbor has leukemia.
I am reminded of wise words from writer Kate Bowler.
“And it turns out,” Bowler says, “that there’s this perfect quote from pastor and writer, Frederick Buechner, who said: ‘Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don’t be afraid.’
“Here’s your reminder that life can be both wonderful and terrible, gorgeous and tragic and that these opposites do not cancel each other out. Life is so beautiful. Life is so hard. Period.”
