Is discipline the cure for procrastination?

One of Fayteen’s good friends read our blog and then called to share his grandfather’s cure for procrastination.

His grandfather always instructed him to write down three things that he wanted to accomplish during the day. Then, his grandfather emphasized, do the one thing that you don’t want to do first.

The grandfather was providing an important message: The cure for procrastination is discipline.

It’s a good message. It reminds us of the advice offered by many “experts.” They suggest doing difficult tasks first and saving easier tasks for later. Joy knew one very successful writer/editor who always reserved the morning hours for writing and then spent the afternoon doing all of the miscellaneous tasks that an editor has to do.

This also is an excellent reminder that our grandparents and our parents offered us lots of excellent advice. All we have to do is follow it.
