In praise of October

I ate corny dogs at the State Fair of Texas, the biggest and the best state fair, and recently I enjoyed a piece of my friend Susie’s apple pie.

The air is crisper and cooler when I begin my morning walk, and I noticed yellow leaves under the trees in my front yard.

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers,” said Anne of Green Gables in the novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

I agree, and I was delighted to find this quote in my monthly newsletter from Chocolate Angel Café, which is now selling its famous pumpkin crunch torte.
