What is mindful meditation? “It’s really the practice of learning how to be right here, right now in an accepting way with whatever is happening, rather than letting our thoughts carry us away,” Gelies told Cheryl Hall in an interview for the January 26, 2016, issue of The Dallas Morning News.
You don’t have to fold your legs into a lotus position, he stresses. You do have to slow down, take a breath and tune out distractions. Mindful meditation takes mental training and constant practice.
