Thanks to Steven Pinker and his book The Better Angels of Our Nature—Why Violence has Declined, I just discovered the penalty for gluttony—and I think the prescribed punishment must be one of the best incentives for healthy eating ever discovered.
According to Pinker, if you’re guilty of gluttony—which the dictionary says is “the act or habit of eating or drinking too much,” you will be “force-fed rats, toads and snakes.” In hell. Forever.
