The story of your life

You are the director of the movie of your life, Ann Madonia Casey reminded me in a recent essay in The Dallas Morning News.

“In my imagination, the hereafter we deserve would be one we create for ourselves every breathing moment,” Casey writes. “It would be simply this: Each person is forced to watch the movie of her life, unedited, on an endless loop.”

She worries, she admits, that her movie would be “hellishly boring.”

And, when she concludes that she is in the director’s seat, she is inspired to give a dinner party and to volunteer at her neighborhood school for the coming year.

She wants to use her time mindfully, “beholding what is best in art and nature, reaching out to others.”
