Jerry and I spent Easter last year, Thanksgiving last year, Christmas last year and New Year’s Day this year without our children. Because of COVID, of course.
This year, we have had two doses of vaccine, and we spent Easter with our daughter Mary Elizabeth and her husband Jesús.
It was a splendid day. Mary Elizabeth made yeast rolls—which reminded me of the rolls that my mother used to make. I ate two and a half rolls with lots of butter.
Before our brunch, we took our salad bowls and went outside to Mary Elizabeth’s garden so that she could fill them with lettuce and kale. From farm—or backyard garden—to table!
Of course, the best part of the day was family in-person. Sitting at the table with Jerry beside me and Mary Elizabeth and Jesús across from me. With good food and lots of pleasant conversation.
I counted my blessings. And, on the way home, I started planning my trip to Tulsa in May to see my son Jay and his wife Rachel.
