I plopped down in my seat, pulled out my book and started reading while the rest of the passengers filed into the airplane.
I probably wouldn’t have taken my eyes off my good book until the stewardess inquired about what I wanted to drink, but I suddenly heard an excited, small voice ask, “Are we in the air yet?”
I smiled. The child, who was about four-years-old, was sitting in the seat behind me, and she was clearly thrilled about riding an airplane. As soon as the plane’s engines started, she announced: “We’re about to take off.”
And, a few minutes later, she proclaimed, “We’re up in the air. See the clouds!”
I put down my book and looked out my window at a sky full of beautiful clouds. Sometimes we need to be reminded to smell the flowers and admire the clouds.
