A simple question about children

I called the University of Tulsa because I had a question about graduation on May 5.

In case you haven’t heard, my son Jay is graduating! And, he has been admitted to the MBA program at the University of Tulsa. And, he has been awarded a big scholarship. We’re ready to celebrate.

“I’m a parent,” I told the woman at TU, “and I just have one simple question.”

The woman laughed. “If you’re a parent and you have a question about children, it’s never a simple question,” she told me.

We both laughed. Of course, it’s true. Raising children is never simple. Nourishing relationships with your adult children can be even more complicated. Of course, relationships with your children or other people often are anything but simple. Sometimes they even seem a little crazy. But often they’re  rewarding. And always interesting.
