The cookie conspiracy

Why does it always happen?

The day that I decide to be Resolute—to stop the overeating for a few days and the dieting for a few days cycle—that’s the day that my order of Girl Scout cookies arrives.

And, Girl Scout cookies arrive only once a year. Wouldn’t it be wise to postpone my back-to-healthy-eating campaign one more day and indulge in a box of Samoas?

No, of course not. Although I admit that I was sorely tempted.

I can eat one or two Samoas. But not the whole box.

The problem with indulging for special occasions—like the arrival of Girl Scout cookies—is that there are too many special occasions. Thanksgiving. Christmas. Valentine’s Day. Easter. Birthdays. Happy Friday! The end of a big project. The beginning of a new project. And so on. And so on.
