I have books in my office, books in my closet, books stacked in tall piles in my bedroom.
I have been saying for years that I was going to organize my library.
Now I’m doing it. I’m inspired by my daughter Mary Elizabeth and a book that she is reading—Mini-Habits—Smaller Habits, Bigger Results by Stephen Guise.
A mini-habit, Guise says, “a very small positive behavior that you force yourself to do every day.”
Often, he stresses, we try to make a change that’s too big and we’re overwhelmed. A mini-habit is “too small to fail.”
It’s a goal—like finding two books from your library and putting them in a pile for the used bookstore—or learning one new word a day—or getting up five minutes early.
