During a class that I attended last summer, the teacher said that he believes that the central issue for all of us is the need to feel significant.
Fayteen and I have been thinking about the importance of feeling significant.
We’ve decided that whether or not we’re feeling significant makes a big difference in our lives. When we’re feeling insignificant, we often are feeling a little low or depressed, too.
We know that the people in our lives—friends and family—make us feel significant when they listen or show they love us.
We also know that we feel significant when we know that we are making a small difference in the world and in lives of other people.
Most important, we realize that a true and solid feeling of significance must come from within. We can’t look to others to assure us that we are significant. A feeling of significance must reside deep inside us.
We’ll talk more about significance in the future.
