How’s your physiology?

Katie Karlovitz, a public speaking coach, says that your effectiveness as a speaker depends 55 percent on your physiology, 38 percent on your tonality and 7 percent on your content.

I checked and physiology refers to a branch of biology that deals with the functions and activities of life or of living matter.

Karlovitz is making the point that, when I’m giving a speech or talking to a friend or trying to win an argument, how I act, how I look, how I gesture and how I stand are very important—sometimes more important than what I say.

When I do public speaking, I should consider myself an actress on stage, Karolvitz stressed in an August 2015 interview with Communication World Magazine.
