When I finished my holiday dinner and felt really full, but I went ahead and ate a big piece of pecan pie with whipping cream anyway, I was engaged in “hedonic eating.”
Hedonic eating is eating for pleasure rather than physical need, explained my December 8-14, 2013, issue of Weight Watcher Weekly.
It’s interesting to have a name for what I was doing when I started eating holiday fudge and pumpkin muffins and Godiva chocolates—and then kept on indulging.
Now that the holidays are over, I’m declaring an end to hedonic eating!
