Jog just five minutes a day

I love to walk, and I thoroughly enjoy my three-mile walk with my dog, Ginger, almost every morning.

Some days, however, I’m extra busy, and I don’t have time for a long walk. How long do I need to walk to keep healthy and in shape?

A recent study, reported in The New York Times, suggests a short jog makes a big difference. Researchers indicate that running as little as 30 to 59 minutes a week is enough to significantly reduce the risk of premature death.

I’m going to continue my long walks. I might even try a slow jog. Ginger and I think our morning walks are fun—but, when I’m busy, I’ll remember that a short walk can make a big difference.
