A children’s book called Rosa by Nikki Giovanni is one of the banned books named in an award-winning documentary “The ABC of Book Banning.”
These are words from the book:
She sighed as she realized she was tired. Not tired from work, but tired of putting white people first. Tired of stepping off sidewalks to let white people pass, tired of eating at separate lunch counters and learning at separate schools.
“She was tired of “Colored” entrances, “Colored” balconies, “Colored” drinking fountains and “Colored” taxis.”
So, Rosa Parks did not give up her seat when the bus driver asked her to move so that a white person could have a seat.
