We believe that each of us has an inner spirit or an inner voice. The only way to find your true self is to be still and quiet, to get away from the loud voices and racket that surround us, and to listen to that inner voice.
Thomas Kelly, a Quaker, talks about this voice in his book A Testament of Devotion, which was published in 1941.
“Deep within us all there is an amazing sanctuary of the soul, a holy place, a Divine Center, a speaking Voice, to which we may continuously return. Eternity is at our hearts, pressing upon our time-torn lives.”
