Elaine Pagels writes about the Book of Revelation in the Bible and also about the number of other books of revelations that were written by the early Christians, books that weren’t included in the New Testament.
In the conclusion of Revelations—Visions, Prophecy & Politics in the Book of Revelation, Pagels concludes, “Recovering such lost and silenced voices, even when we don’t accept everything they say, reminds us that even our clearest insights are more like glimpses…than maps of complete and indelible truth.”
We’re going to remember Pagels reference to “glimpses.” The next time we’re looking for answers or advice, we’re going to look for glimpses instead of trying to seek the one perfect solution.
