During the next several weeks, we’re going to share some holiday lessons we’ve learned.
When a friend lamented that she would like to lose a few pounds before the end of the year, I remembered the good advice I received years ago from a nutritionist with a Ph.D.
It was the winter that my mother-in-law died right before Thanksgiving, and I gained 15 pounds during the three weeks I helped take care of her.
The nutritionist’s advice? “Don’t try to lose weight during the holidays,” she said. “There are too many temptations. It’s too difficult. Just try to maintain your weight, and start eating a healthier diet next year.”
