Celebrate with a child

During the next several weeks, we’re going to share some holiday lessons we’ve learned.

When my friend Everett, who’s five-years-old, came to visit, he told me what he wants for Christmas. He sang the song he’s going to sing at his Christmas performance at preschool. Then, he announced that he wanted to play Duck, Duck, Goose.

“You’ll have to tell me the rules,” I told him. “I haven’t played Duck, Duck, Goose in a long time.”

If your children, like mine, are too old to play Duck, Duck, Goose, find a child to play with and celebrate with during the holidays.

Laura Ingalls Wilder once said, “We are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”
