Ranna, my daughter, is cancer free, but she is still fighting serious health issues caused by breast cancer.
I have learned a lot about this horrible disease since Ranna was diagnosed with cancer in January 2011. I urge each of you to get regular screening tests for breast cancer and to make sure that the women you love do the same. I also ask each of you to reach out to a family member or friend who has breast cancer and offer your support.
Here’s what the American Cancer Society advises about breast cancer.
“Breast cancer will affect 1 in 8 American women. It kills more women in the United States than any cancer except lung cancer. Getting regular screening tests is the best way for women to lower the risk of dying from breast cancer.”
