Rabbi Andrew Paley, senior rabbi of Temple Shalom in Dallas, quoted Elie Wiesel, Nobel winner and Holocaust survivor, in a column in the January 27, 2020, issue of the Dallas Morning News.
“The opposite of love is not hate; it’s indifference,” Wiesel said. “The opposite of beauty is not ugliness; it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy; it’s indifference. And, the opposite of life is not death, but indifference between life and death.”
The rabbi wrote the column for International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
