What I don’t need

“How many things there are which I do not need!” Socrates once said.

That’s a good quote for me to remember when I am buying presents for my family and friends. There are many things that I really don’t need—and many things that my friends and family really don’t need.

I found Socrate’s seasonal advice in an unexpected place when I sat down with a cup of tea and a book, a gift from my friend Olga. The book is The Wisdom of the Ancient Greeks by Steven Stavropoulos.
