Patience rewarded!

We did it! After numerous phone calls and hours waiting on hold, two confirmed reservations that were canceled and hours registering at nine sites, we finally won the competition.

My husband Jerry and I were vaccinated for the coronavirus this week.

We weren’t vaccinated by Dallas County. Or, the City of Dallas. Or, Garland or Denton. We were vaccinated by the Allen Fire Department at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas.

We were elated—although, as my friend Eva concludes, it’s not time to change our behavior. Even after our second shot and the required waiting period, we still will be wearing masks and social distancing. However, we feel a bit safer.

We were patient—mostly—sometimes.

“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet,” Rousseau once said.
