Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban in Pakistan in 2012 because she demanded that girls be allowed to get an education.
Malala says:
“We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.”
“Let us pick up our books and our pens; they are the most powerful weapons.”
“I will raise up my voice—not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard….We cannot succeed when half of us are held back.”
