Food and friends

The last night we were in Maine, we gorged on lobster with lots of butter, corn on the cob, fried green tomatoes and warm blueberry pie with ice cream. It was a spectacular feast, and I enjoyed every bite while sitting on the cabin’s screened porch. I ate slowly, talking to my good friends and watching the hummingbirds feed and the sun go down.

That lobster dinner may have been the best meal I enjoyed during my vacation, but a close second was the lunch we ate in the middle of our canoe trip. We pulled our canoes into the sand and stood among the trees while we ate peanut butter and cherry jam sandwiches and crisp apples.

Food and friends are a great combination, and the most important ingredient is always the friends.
