A sensible approach to dieting

What’s the best way to lose weight?

A sensible program of diet and exercise, concludes a study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. It’s based on research from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and we read about it in the April 24, 2012, issue of The Dallas Morning News.

What’s the sensible approach?

Eating less, exercising more and switching to more healthful foods. Also, joining a weight-loss program can be helpful.

What doesn’t work?

Liquid diets, nonprescription diet pills and popular diets.

Losing weight isn’t easy, but you can do it. According to this study, nearly two-thirds of Americans who are obese try to lose weight, and about 40 percent of them succeed.
