The weakness of violence

In his book The Powers That Be, Walter Wink argues for nonviolence.

Wink quotes Martin Luther King: “The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing that it seeks to destroy.”

And, he quotes Friedrich Nietzche: “Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.”
