Know what you can control

Grounded hope is hope rooted in reality. It’s the powerful belief that, whatever happens to you, you can make choices and control how you act and react.

But, what if you have a tendency to want to control everything?

That’s the question I asked David Feldman, who talked about his book Supersurvivors at the Texas Book Festival in Austin in October.

Feldman smiled when I admitted to him that I, like many people who have suffered childhood traumas, want to control everything.

“You have to learn what you can control,” he told me.
